Practices to stay open to those we love, when we would otherwise close.
Do you long to finally feel seen, heard and appreciated by those you love?
Are you tired of arguments that go around in circles?
Are there important things you avoid discussing in order to keep the peace?
Are there things they do or say that leave you feeling accused or misunderstood?
Do you wish you could move on from past hurts and regain the love you once felt?
In supporting people through relationship challenges of all kinds, I’ve learned:
1. Conflict feels deeply personal. When we are locked in misunderstandings and arguments with those we love it seems to us like the problem is them, and it seems to them the problem is us. When we get locked in this dynamic it feels deeply personal and it hurts. At times like this it can feel like anything we say or do only makes things worse.
2. What we can’t say grows resentment. Many of us have learned to shy away from talking about the ‘big stuff’ to keep the peace. Yet, unmet needs lead to resentment and disappointment, which destroys intimacy. Most of us have never learned how to communicate our needs in a way that opens others to deeper connection.
3. It’s possible to deepen intimacy in moments of great upset. When we can master the tools of conscious communication, we can turn blame and defensiveness into love and understanding. Learning to skilfully navigate our moments of relationships fracture is the very pathway to the trust, safety and intimacy we all yearn for.
And I can’t wait to show you those skills.
On COME BACK TO LOVE Retreat you will learn to navigate the trickiest, most upsetting moments in your relationships with those you cherish most and grow deeper safety, understanding, connection and open-heartedness.
